Lavender

Literally the emblem of Provence, the lavender even gave the Valensole’s plateau the name of blue country. In our case, we are indeed talking about lavender and not lavandin which is a hybrid of two different species of lavender.
We are growing and harvesting the Mailette variety from the Lavandula Angustifolia specie. The harvest is done in July when two third of the flower of the lavender crop are bloomed. Flower are cut and let in the lavender field for one night to dry. Then, they are packed in circular bales which are brought to the distillation cooperative.

Each member of the cooperative are distilling their field and get the essential oil from the distillation process.

Benefits of the lavender:

  • Calming, relaxing.
  • Anti-inflammatory.
  • It is an excellent healing product: it regenerates tissue destroyed on a wound.
  • Essential oil of lavender is antiseptic, antiviral and antibacterial.
  • It is very efficient against lung infections as it ease the expectoration/ we could use it in the case of bronchitis, flu, cough or sinusitis.

It is bug repealing (flea, louse) and reduce the itching and inflammatory reactions
