Report from July 20, 2026: Distillation on the Valensole Plateau, “a high-quality product made with traditional expertise”

In its July 20, 2026, edition, the daily newspaper La Provence features a report on traditional lavender distillation at the Terres de Bonaventure farm on the Valensole Plateau (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). Every summer, through the end of July, Paolo Chabot operates the last traditional still still in use on the plateau in front of visitors: the freshly harvested flowers are loaded into the still just a few meters from the fields. A 30-hectare family farm that has been organically farmed between Valensole and Oraison since 1978, Terres de Bonaventure carries on a tradition of expertise passed down through three generations, from the field to the farm shop. Tours are free and do not require an appointment; they are available year-round, offering visitors the chance to discover the distillation process, the crops, and the farm’s products available for direct purchase.
