Before you prune a branch, you think about it: 200 seasons, 200 years of olive growers have gone before you, and they're watching you with a suspicious eye. These trees have given them a living, sometimes a livelihood. They have fed men and women, cared for them, made them dream, made them poets and sometimes pacifists.

Planted before the industrial era, they are indifferent to modern farming techniques, and laugh at tractors. They're not in rows.
